Where can I purchase a single large balloon that will make me jump high but not float?
My friend and I really want to combine our savings and buy a single large balloon (preferably helium powered) that attaches to you via harness. Does anybody know where we can buy one or how much they cost? Thanks a ton!
For safety it would have to be helium or hot air (not hydrogen or natural gas) How big it would have to be would depend on your weight, but it would be very big, very awkward, and expensive to fill. If the heavier of you two weighs 150 pounds and the balloon and harness weighs 30 pounds then the volume of the balloon must be
180 / 0.0640 = 2,812.5 cubic feet ((0.0640 lb/ft3). http://www.americanblimp.com/fly.htm which is 17.6 feet in diameter (4/3 Pi r^3) which is really awkward. The cost of filling (current price of Crude Helium is $62.25 per 1000 cubic feet http://www.blm.gov/nm/st/en/prog/energy/helium/helium_operators_information/crude_helium_price.html and it will cost more compressed into tanks) will be over $200 and I don’t think there is a practical way to put it back in tanks.
A hot air balloon will have to be bigger because of less lift and the need for at least one propane tank and burner as you can see in these pictures http://images.google.com/images?q=one%20man%20hot%20air%20balloon&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi but less expensive (I think) to operate. California’s Los Lobos are the reigning kings of Tex-Mex/Rock Espanol. But this debut CD by the San Angelo, Texas band Los Lonely Boys might herald a changing of the guard. This is truly a band of brothers, led by guitarist/vocalist Henry Garza and his younger, bass-and-drum-playing siblings Jojo and Ringo. Like a lot of groups, they had to move away to achieve fame–in their case, to Nashville. B…
